Supporting local footy through Freo’s Next Generation Academy

With Woodside’s longstanding major partnership with the Fremantle Dockers entering its 15th year, we are proud to be expanding our support as the official partner for the Club's Next Generation Academy (NGA).

The NGA aims to identify and develop young talent, introduce school aged children to community football competitions and feed into existing state and territory and national talent programs.

The NGA is an essential pillar of the Fremantle Dockers’ community engagement, focussing on encouraging participation and identifying talented young athletes from Indigenous and multicultural backgrounds from regional WA and Perth metro areas.

Woodside’s support of the NGA not only reinforces our position as a co-major partner of the Club but also underlines a shared mission to have a greater impact in remote communities throughout Western Australia.

The NGA is just one of many examples of our commitment to building local capacity and developing opportunities for community wellbeing.

Through 2024 and beyond, Woodside’s partnership will enable the Academy to extend its influence, creating more inclusive opportunities for young people to connect with the sport of AFL, and increase the focus on the development of the Club’s female talent pathway.

Woodside Energy CEO Meg O’Neill said the Academy is an important component of our partnership with the Club which adds to the company’s longstanding community presence in WA.

“We are proud of our renewed partnership with Fremantle and expanded support for the Next Generation Academy. It will see us continue to work alongside the Club, delivering a program that is creating valuable development and educational pathways for young people in our regional communities."

Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick welcomed Woodside Energy's increased involvement.

"Woodside Energy's decision to become the official partner for our NGA is a testament to its belief in our Club’s vision for community and youth engagement.

“Woodside’s enhanced support as co-major partners will be instrumental in propelling our community initiatives to new heights.

“The company’s support for the Next Generation Academy is just one aspect of its broader commitment to social investment, particularly in the areas of education and community wellbeing.

“Together with the Fremantle Dockers, Woodside Energy is set to leave a lasting legacy that champions the spirit of Australia's beloved game and the diverse communities that make it flourish.”
