Creating sustainable opportunities in a global, large-scale industry like oil and gas means supporting local.

It's also about investing in the surrounding community and supporting them to meet their aspirations - including aspirations to supply us with the skills, goods and services we need.

Delivering long-term outcomes requires a long-term approach, starting with our support for early childhood and education, right through to pre-employment pathways and local business capability programs.

We work with like-minded suppliers to identify opportunities, make commitments and hold ourselves accountable. We're proud of our commitment and our results, and we take our integrated approach with us, wherever we operate.

In 2018, 84% of our Australian spend was with local Western Australian suppliers.

Energising The Pilbara

The Pilbara is more than the heartbeat of our operations, it’s where our story lives. We’ve grown with the region over the last 30 years, buying and supplying locally and investing in education, training, jobs and new industries. In fact, in 2018 84% of our Australian spend - $3.3 billion - was with WA suppliers, supporting local businesses. As we develop our growth projects, we’ll be energising the Pilbara for decades to come, helping to build an even greater place to live and work.
