Woodside has one of the largest offshore petroleum acreage holdings in Myanmar. We've secured interests in nine offshore blocks through successful bid rounds and farm-ins.

We have safely completed three drilling campaigns, making gas discoveries every year since 2015.

In 2018, we successfully drilled three wells, which included a successful appraisal of the Shwe Yee Htun field in Block A-6 and a gas discovery at Aung Siddhi-1 in Block AD-1.

Our activities in Myanmar support the second and third time horizons in our strategy: to monetise our exploration success, increase supply to new and traditional markets, and unlock new major hubs.

“The results are encouraging and we hope that the resources in the permit can contribute energy that will support Myanmar’s future economic development,” said our CEO, Peter Coleman.

Consultation Activities

An important aspect of planning for our offshore activities is consulting with stakeholders to understand potential impacts, so that appropriate management and mitigation measures can be developed, while remaining transparent about how we manage and respond to concerns.
