Woodside Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
Woodside has launched its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for 2010 which outlines our public commitments and measures to finally close the unacceptable life expectancy gap between Indigenous and other Australians.
The Woodside RAP covers three key areas for making a difference – respect, relationships and opportunities.
Woodside's Indigenous Affairs focus areas directly correlate with these areas by building respect through our approach to cultural heritage management and Indigenous land access; understanding effective stakeholder engagement is an essential element for building relationships and creating opportunities through employment, business participation and social investments.
Some of the significant actions from the RAP include:
- Creating 50 employment opportunities in 2010 and tripling our Indigenous employment by 2012
- Engaging at least 10 Indigenous businesses to provide vital economic development opportunities
- Continuing to support the Woodside Roebourne office to act as a hub for ongoing dialogue with the Indigenous community
- Continuing the contribution towards boosting Indigenous education attainment levels and the ongoing commitment to the Roebourne breakfast program, Clontarf Football Academy, Gumala Mirnuwarni and Roebourne Pathways program
- Providing cross cultural awareness training for our people, supporting NAIDOC Week celebrations and understanding that our approach to heritage management is vital to demonstrating respect
