Live@Woodside
In 2008 the west end of Perth came to life as Woodside Plaza Garden transformed into Live@Woodside.
The visual feast saw a new theme take to the stage in an unconventional space every Wednesday lunchtime for five weeks:
Week 1 (26 March) Carnivalé@Woodside
Week 2 (2 April) Seaside@Woodside
Week 3 (9 April) Magic@Woodside
Week 4 (16 April) Romance@Woodside
Week 5 (23 April) Heaven@Woodside
Woodside commissioned the series as a small but significant way to contribute to a vibrant city centre.
The series saw a move away from the typical donation sponsorship for arts programs with Woodside proactively exploring, developing and producing an event which otherwise would not have occurred.
Each week, hundreds of people were engaged by amazing performances from some of Western Australia’s best talent including work from up and coming artists and arts support staff.
These artists, who would individually not receive a full sponsorship, benefited from the series as it provided an opportunity to showcase their work to a new audience.
Woodside would like to thank the following performers who helped bring a little magic, and love, to lunch in the city:
Bizircus, Blanche Dubois, Unima 2008 Spare Parts Puppet Theatre,Total Theatre Company, Beach Side Boys Band, Big Hoo Haa, Dizzi Lizzi Delicious, Buzz Dance Theatre Company,WA Opera Company, Percussion, Kuerazo Latin Dancers, Brendon Coleman, WA Ballet Company, Natalie Gillespie, Nel Simpson, Bryn Davies
Theatre Mondo, Cut Snake Comedy, Freddy Poncin, Em Rusciano, Trans Naan, Pierre, The Dance Collective and One Fell Swoop Fashion.
Woodside plans to continue and build the Live@Woodside series in 2009 with a specially commissioned five-week lunchtime series and five-week Friday evening series.
