Gulf of Mexico

In 1999, Woodside began exploring in the Gulf of Mexico, where it has significant interests in offshore blocks.

In 2007, Woodside won 14 new deepwater leases in the Gulf, against strong competition at a net cost of US$26 million.

Woodside is participating in more than a dozen producing fields in the Gulf. We hold 20 per cent working interests in the Neptune and Power Play deepwater fields.

Woodside expects drilling operations at the deepwater Innsbruck exploration prospect to resume in 2H 2011.  In 1H 2011 Woodside divested all of its Gulf of Mexico shelf properties for a cash consideration of $27.5 million.

In 2010 our United States business contributed 2.2 MMboe to Woodside’s annual production.

Woodside’s interests in the Gulf of Mexico are managed from its office in Houston, Texas.
