Woodside is building a global exploration portfolio and is undertaking a range of high impact exploration activities to generate future growth opportunities for the company.
Woodside's global exploration portfolio includes interests in Australia, Myanmar, Senegal, the Senegal/ Guinea-Bissau Joint Development Zone, Morocco, Gabon, Ireland, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Peru and Canada.
This diverse portfolio reflects the company's global exploration strategy – to grow and high grade our portfolio with an emphasis on emerging petroleum provinces characterised by materiality and optionality.
Our three areas of focus, based on our in-depth studies of regional petroleum systems, are in Australia and the Asia-Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Atlantic Margins and Latin America.
Across our permit interests, we see an opportunity to leverage our core capabilities, particularly in deepwater exploration, technology and project development, and to create value for our shareholders.
In 2016, we are continuing to build prospect inventories in our core focus areas and mature drilling candidates, with plans to drill a number of high-impact wells in 2017-2018.
We continue to evaluate new exploration opportunities around the globe that offer a clear line of sight between our core capabilities and future value.
