Coastal Guardians – understand, rehabilitate, protect |
| Information |
“Coastal Guardians is an evolution of the Conservation Volunteers and Woodside Coastal Conservation Program first established in 2005. Coastal Guardians comprises three important elements – understand, rehabilitate and protect. Through programs running around the country, Coastal Guardians will work to engage the community in addressing the data deficiencies for marine species of Australia, address threats to priority hotspots of the Australian coastline and build both Conservation Volunteer’s and the communities capacity to respond immediately to disasters and assist the recovery. To date, Coastal Guardian projects are running all over the country, covering a wide scope of coastal work. In Queensland for example, we are assisting with the ongoing disaster recovery efforts against coastal damage and marine debris. In addition, Coastal Guardians includes turtle monitoring across three states, conservation on the iconic Great Ocean Road in Victoria and a national migratory whale watching initiative." - Conservation Volunteers Australia Chairman Gerry Morvell |

“The Western Australian Museum is proud of its long and productive relationship with Woodside. Since 1998, The Museum has collaborated with Woodside in a significant partnership to investigate the unique and largely unknown marine biodiversity of the waters of northern Western Australia. More recently, we have collaborated to promote understanding of the marine environment and its exploration. These partnerships have been critical to our work, which would not have been possible without Woodside’s support. Just as important, however, is the nature of this relationship which is mature and equitable. We are equal partners in endeavours that are literally changing our understanding of our world." - WA Museum CEO Alec Coles |

By becoming a ClimateWatcher, ordinary Australians can make an extraordinary difference to their environment. Woodside has been a long standing and valued partner of Earthwatch and the success and longevity of our relationship is due in no small part to its basis in mutual respect and shared values. Our partnership is now in its 13th year and it has evolved and grown as our organisations have evolved and grown. During that time two things have remained constant. They are: a commitment to the advancement of marine science; and the hands-on involvement of Woodside’s employees and communities in scientific research." - Earthwatch Institute Executive Director Rich Gilmore |

Earth Science WA Curriculum Textbook |

“Education has always been important, and now, more than ever, educating future generations about earth and its environment is imperative to ensure informed decisions are made to manage the environment in a sustainable way in the future. With the introduction of a new Earth and Environmental Science (EES) textbook, passing knowledge on about earth sciences and encouraging students to engage in what's happening to the environment has been made a lot more comprehensive for Western Australian teachers. This textbook is tailored to the WA context for teachers and students. While students learn about relationships between earth's materials and the geological processes that form them, it's critical for finding solutions to environmental challenges today and into the future." - WA Education Minister the Honourable Liz Constable |
