Sunrise

The Greater Sunrise gas development lies in the Timor Sea north of Australia and includes the Sunrise and Troubadour fields.

The development of these fields offers both Australia and Timor-Leste a significant and challenging opportunity to meet growing, worldwide demand for clean energy.

The Sunrise joint venture has applied its wealth of international LNG experience to a comprehensive and robust technical and commercial evaluation to select the development option which develops the Greater Sunrise fields to the best commercial advantage consistent with good oilfield practice – a requirement of the international treaties agreed by both the Timor-Leste and Australian governments.

The theme selection evaluation took more than 320,000 hours to complete and the joint venturers have unanimously agreed that a Floating LNG facility is the best technical and commercial option for the Greater Sunrise reservoir.

Floating LNG does not require an export pipeline, which significantly reduces the environmental footprint of this development.

The Sunrise joint venture will soon submit a preliminary Field Development Plan for Floating LNG to both the Australian and Joint Petroleum Development Area regulators for approval.

Approval of a Field Development Plan, in addition to fiscal and regulatory certainty from the Timor-Leste and Australian governments, are important precursors to a final investment decision on the Greater Sunrise development.

The development of Greater Sunrise will generate significant long-term petroleum revenue for Timor-Leste and Australian and offer economic opportunities for local content, employment and procurement.
