In 1997 Woodside began briefing the community about its oil and gas exploration activities off North West Cape in Western Australia.

 

Stakeholders included residents of Exmouth, Aboriginal groups, conservation groups, fishing and tourism operators, tourists, and government and industry groups.

 

In 2001, Woodside established community reference groups in Perth and Exmouth which have enabled people to learn about developments in the area, have a say about them, and contribute to project decisions.

 

Community involvement in the area is supplemented by newsletters, briefings, advertising and media coverage about Woodside's activities.
