Background
Vincent is one of several oil fields discovered by Woodside in exploration permit WA-28-L off North West Cape in Western Australia.
The permit was awarded to Woodside in 1997 and the company discovered the Vincent oil field in 1998, Enfield in 1999 and Laverda in 2000.
In 2003, the Australian Government approved development concepts for the permit and Woodside decided to develop Enfield as the first project through a FPSO.
Enfield started production in July 2006.
Woodside is also developing other oil fields in the area, including Stybarrow, which is operated by BHP Billiton.
Stybarrow, which is half owned by Woodside, is a US$600 million development which produced first oil in 2007.
