Approvals
The Vincent oil field is in Australian waters off North West Cape, Western Australia. The development of Vincent is subject to the following legislation:
- Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth) (EPBC Act); and
- Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1967 (Cth) (PSLA).
The EPBC Act is administered by the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Heritate (DEH) and and the PSLA is administered by the Western Australian Department of Industry and Resources (DOIR).
Environmental approvals
Environmental approvals for a stand-alone Vincent development were started in 2005. A draft environmental impact statement (EIS) was prepared and released in November 2005 for public review. Woodside prepared a supplement to respond to submissions received during the public review period. The supplement and the draft EIS were submitted to the Commonwealth Minister for the Environment and Heritage in April 2006 for consideration and approval. Environmental approval was granted in June 2006.
Other Approvals
Woodside will seek other approvals in line with its project schedule including approval of its Field Development Plan.
Operations at Vincent will be governed by Australian Government-approved environment plans, including an oil spill contingency plan.
