Gulf of Mexico
In 1999, Woodside began exploring in the Gulf of Mexico, where it has significant interests in offshore blocks in shallow and deep water.
In 2007, Woodside won 14 new deepwater leases in the Gulf, against strong competition at a net cost of US$26 million.
Woodside is participating in more than a dozen producing fields in the Gulf, with new oil developments Powerplay and Neptune scheduled for start-up in 2008.
We continue to explore material deep water prospects in the Gulf, where in 2008, we will drill up to two new wells.
Woodside’s interests in the Gulf of Mexico are managed from offices in Houston, Texas and Covington, Louisiana.
