Angel
The A$1.6 billion Angel platform is located about 120km north-west of Karratha and is tied in to the first trunkline at the North Rankin platform via a 50km sub-sea pipeline. The platform is designed to allow for the tie-back of other discoveries in the area.
Commissioned in 2008, the remotely operated platform stands in about 80 metres of water and is supplied by three subsea production wells. The unique platform design enables it to be safely and securely powered and remotely controlled from North Rankin A via a subsea cable.
Hydrocarbons from Angel are produced through one ‘dry export’ processing unit with a daily capacity of up to 800 million standard cubic feet of gas and up to 50,000 barrels of condensate, and are processed onshore at the Karratha Gas Plant.
Development of the Angel platform started in Q4 2005 and first gas was produced in October 2008.
