King Bay Supply Base
Located 2 km south of the Karratha Gas Plant, the Woodside-operated King Bay Supply Base comprises marine facilities and warehouses to provide logistical support for the North West Shelf Venture’s shipping and offshore drilling and production operations.
Four tugs and a pilot vessel service the LNG, condensate and LPG ships that dock at Karratha Gas Plant’s Withnell Bay terminal. On average one LNG ship arrives at the terminal every one-and-a-half days.
Three 2000 tonne supply vessels support the North West Shelf Venture’s offshore operations. Each of these vessels carries large payloads of supplies and equipment for the offshore facilities, supports underwater remotely operated vehicles used for a wide range of inspection, maintenance and repair, and can be used for fire-fighting and rescue operations.
Woodside contracts helicopter services for 24-hour access to the North West Shelf Venture’s offshore facilities via a fleet of Sikorsky S76 A+ helicopters and AS332L Super Pumas, which carry up to 10 and 18 passengers respectively.
