Gulf of Mexico
In 1999, Woodside began exploring in the Gulf of Mexico, where it has significant interests in offshore blocks in shallow and deep water.
In 2007, Woodside won 14 new deepwater leases in the Gulf, against strong competition at a net cost of US$26 million.
Woodside is participating in more than a dozen producing fields in the Gulf. We achieved two milestones in mid 2008 with the commissioning of deepwater developments, Power Play and Neptune. We have a 20 per cent interest in both projects.
We continue to explore material deep water prospects in the Gulf, where in 2009, we will drill one new wells.
Woodside’s interests in the Gulf of Mexico are managed from offices in Houston, Texas and Mandeville, Louisiana.
