Torosa South Appraisal Drilling Alternatives Analysis
Approximately half the area of the Torosa gas field lies beneath Scott Reef. This part of the gas field is called Torosa South. Woodside has a requirement to undertake appraisal drilling in this area to define hydrocarbon volumes, and options for development and thereby progress the Browse LNG Development.
The area under appraisal is a sensitive environment. Woodside has therefore carried out a detailed analysis of rig alternatives with intent of selecting an appropriate rig, able to both achieve sub-surface objectives and manage the potential impact of drilling.
The analysis of the drilling rig options is available for download below. The report concludes that a Jack-up rig offers the lowest risk profile and is the only option capable of achieving the appraisal objectives.
