The Browse gas fields include the Torosa, Brecknock, and Calliance discoveries which are located offshore 425km north of Broome, Western Australia. The fields contain a combined contingent resource of about 13.3 trillion cubic feet of dry gas and 360 million barrels of condensate (as at 31 December 2009).
Woodside and the Browse Joint Venture have selected the Western Australian Government’s Browse LNG Precinct near James Price Point, 60km north of Broome, as the location to process gas from these fields.
The Browse LNG Development has now entered the Basis of Design phase. The Basis of Design phase determines the major design parameters which would enable the optimal development of the offshore gas fields and the onshore facilities near James Price Point.
The Basis of Design phase will be followed by Front End Engineering and Design in 2011 to enable a Final Investment Decision by mid-2012.
